ABB's Distribution Solutions Division provides utility, industrial and commercial customers with safe, smart and sustainable technologies for the distribution of electricity. With ABB AbilityTM enabled digital solutions at its core, our extensive portfolio includes distribution automation products, switching, limiting, measuring and sensing devices, switchgear, modular substation packages, and related services. The role reports to the Production Supervisor and is located in Pinetops, North Carolina. As a Training Coordinator, you will be responsible for the definition of the training plan for hourly direct and indirect associates, for supervising/monitoring their training execution through our dedicated technical training organization, for maintaining training records by employee following the ABB GROW Model strategy, for supporting the onboarding training for new hourly hires in conjunction with Human Resources and for reviewing training methodologies/materials to look for/adopt opportunities for improvements.

Your responsibilities

  • Coordinate training processes, courses, and activities for ABB University utilizing Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Teams
  • Work with technical on-the-job trainers to ensure team members can perform job functions to meet or exceed ABB standards on Safety, Quality and Operations
  • Maintains all ABB University training records per ISO guidelines using associated tools such as Microsoft SharePoint
  • Partners with all relevant areas to ensure training criteria, materials and best practices meet or exceed all ISO requirements and all company, state, and federal laws
  • Define and implement a general training framework to harmonize and measure trainers' performance and effectively plans and organizes trainers' work
  • Develop and initiate improvements and assessments for existing training content and implementation of new training measures
  • Partners with Area Supervisors for updates and future planning for the Department Training Matrix based on departmental training needs and headcount
  • Engages training team members to understand the changing work environment, align or adjust training strategy, develop troubleshooting expertise and/or provide coaching
  • Work with internal stakeholders to design and plan visual based training content using course outlines to guide the work
  • Produce content for the training needs of the site and demonstrate workflow / file management ability
  • Script writing and storyboarding of film projects to ensure focus on subject matter and value to the stakeholders
  • Aid training facilitator with classroom instructor led training
Your background

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a role involving administration/coordination of projects preferably in manufacturing or leading a team with 2 or more years of experience as a Team Leader
  • Sound practical knowledge of processes, methods, and instructions
  • Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivated and with a high level of engagement
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple departments and work teams
  • Experience in dealing with the cultural diversity of a global business environment
  • Highly valuable to be knowledgeable in MS Office-Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook and SAP
  • Knowledge of filming, audio, and lighting equipment used in video production
  • Experience in video production such as video editing with any video editing application including but not limited to Adobe Premiere Pro, Apple Final Cut, Davinci Resolve, or other editing software
  • Experience photo editing application such as Adobe Photoshop
  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator and Animate with knowledge of graphic design is desired
  • An understanding of ISO 9001 is a plus
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
