Job Summary:

This position is responsible for providing therapeutic expressive art services. Art therapists will provide direct clinical care to facilitate individual and group therapy sessions. This position uses art to support personal and relational treatment goals through art-making, creative process, and theory.

Description of Job Responsibilities:

  • Serves as an integral member of a large interdisciplinary team providing direct clinical care to pediatric and adult patients in both 1:1 and group settings.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of therapeutic creative/expressive arts principles, techniques, and methods and their application to the population being served.
  • Analyzes comprehensive data from assessments and develops individualized treatment plans in compliance with departmental policies, protocols, standards of regulatory agencies, and professional standards of practice.
  • Educates colleagues and service providers on the role of creative arts therapy in the treatment of medical and mental illness.
  • Develops and document's patient's progress and modifies treatment plans with varied interventions based on assessments, interests, objective, and subjective information from patients.
  • Exemplifies quality service provision and manages professional practice through ensuring accountability of exceptional patient care, and compliance with departmental policies, protocols, standards of regulatory agencies, and professional standards of practice.
  • Develops, coordinates and evaluates specialized creative arts programs for specific clinical service areas and engages in evaluation/research and quality improvement activities for the clinical service team and department. Participates in the acquisition and maintenance of supplies, equipment and facility planning.
  • Provides supervision to student interns and volunteers as assigned.
Education Requirements:

  • Graduation from AATA (American Art Therapy Association) approved program or related field.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:

  • Current board certification in Art Therapy (ATR-BC)
Professional Experience Requirements:

  • Experience in the field of creative art therapy is preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:
