Position Overview: The specialist, digital products activities are focused on driving customers from existing quotation methods to self-serve quotation methods, using Compass. The specialist, digital products performs technical tasks required to promote the benefits of Compass to customers and train customers to use Compass. This role will obtain and analyze the voice of customer information to drive ongoing system development, including user experience and product enhancements, and additions. The specialist will test new products to ensure customer satisfaction.
Location: Getzville, NY or Ballentyne, NC
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Drive Compass adoption using various methods including but not limited to:
    • Conducting various outreach campaigns with internal and external customers making them aware of the benefits of Compass as well as any new features or products.
    • Lead training sessions that will enable employees and customers to adopt Compass easier.
    • Develop training materials including but not limited FAQs, videos, and Quick Tips
  • Manage reporting adoption and usage metrics
  • Collaborate with various departments to document issues that are preventing customers and employees from utilizing Compass.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure that Configure to Order (CTO) are not causing additional work for employees. Provide solutions when needed to resolve additional work issues.
  • Provide first tier user facing support and issue resolution for internal and external customers.
  • Develop, design and improve Business Processes between Digital Tools and ERP Business Systems
  • Actively participating in system development
    • Project Scope development for product additions to Digital Tools (Compass)
    • Prepare pricing, logic, and lead time tables for new product additions while collaborating with various departments to ensure timely, accurate information is provided.
    • Define and document system enhancement suggestions from Voice of Customer feedback and direct input.
    • Develop data based recommendations for options and features that would help minimize the number of Request to Quote that go to Application Engineering
    • Develop and execute structured testing plans for Variant Configuration designs and pricing within SAP
    • Develop and execute structured testing plans for Variant Configuration designs and pricing within digital platforms (Compass) including regression
    • Perform testing on output forms for digital platforms (Compass)
    • Perform testing on output forms for SAP
  • Maintain strong product and market knowledge of Columbus McKinnon products in our Hoist and Crane Market place
  • Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities:
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals and technical procedures. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from users, managers, customers, and suppliers.
  • Has the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions.
  • Has the ability to work both independently and in a team environment together with peers and system users.

  • Extensive product knowledge for the defined business unit.

Required Qualifications:
  • A High School Diploma.
  • Associate's degree in engineering, technology, or computer science preferred.
  • 5+ years of technical customer service experience.
  • 10+% travel for meetings, training and customer visits.
Compensation: $62,000 - $72,000
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in incentive plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
