Job Description

Each summer we hire Davidson College students to work with the full range of summer camps and conferences that occur on the Davidson College campus. Work begins immediately after Commencement and runs through the end of the first week in August. You are provided on campus housing at no cost. You'll work with camp and conference directors to make sure all of their needs are covered. Along the way you'll learn how the Davidson Campus ticks behind the scenes.

Time Commitment: May 15 - August 5 with possibility of extending through 8/26/2024.

Basic Function: Providing superb customer service to summer camp participants before, during and after camps and conferences, as well as serving as a resource and contact for camp leaders and participants throughout the duration of their stay on campus.

Essential Functions:
  • Meeting and working daily with various college departments (including Physical Plant, Dining Services, Athletics, College Union, Technical Services, ITS, RLO, CatCard Services, and others) to insure all of our clients' needs are met.
  • Acting as the liaison between the client and the aforementioned Davidson College departments.
  • Running smooth check-in and check-out procedures for camp participants.
  • Maintaining accurate records of camp activity and assisting in billing.
  • Taking inventory of conference items such as keys, access cards, etc.
  • Inspecting residence facilities and identifying potential problem areas.
  • Preparing conference information materials (maps, rosters, info sheets, safety procedures, signage, etc.).
  • Providing on call duty coverage for camps when in session.
  • Working on RLO and Auxiliary Services projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.
The ideal conference assistant candidate will have strong organizational, administrative, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as a strong commitment to customer service. Also, the candidate will be dependable, punctual, and able to work in various conditions both with direct supervision and autonomously.
Working Conditions: Position requires and provides on-campus housing. Evening and Weekend hours. Will work 35 - 40 hours per week plus occasional overtime during the summer contract. No secondary employment permissible.
