Davidson's E.H. Little Library seeks a collaborative and enthusiastic Acquisitions & Collections Specialist to join .

As a key member of the library's Collections Strategies team, the Acquisitions & Collections Specialist is responsible for overseeing the procurement and processing of new library materials, supporting the lifecycle of acquisitions from identification, ordering, resource description, invoicing, and shelf-ready processing. As the primary point of contact for purchase requests, you will engage with faculty, staff, and students from across Davidson's campus to expand access to resources and support projects that refine our existing collections with an explicit emphasis on the values of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Collections & Discovery, you will play a key role in the management of the library's physical collection, including overseeing materials processing, arrangement, inventorying, and collections maintenance. You will collaborate with the Collections Strategies team to identify opportunities to rethink the Library's collection management policies and the connections between resource acquisitions, course reserves, and resource sharing as we move toward the .

In this position, you will:

  • Manage relationships with major vendors, international suppliers, and independent providers to identify and order items in response to patron and staff requests.
  • Oversee the responsible and efficient ordering, receipt, and processing of firm-order purchases on vendor platforms and within the Library Services Platform (currently Ex Libris' Alma/Rialto platforms). Support basic copy cataloging and record enhancement functions for new orders, and initiate and reconcile the invoicing process for one-time orders.
  • Support fiscal oversight of the acquisitions budget in the library's services platform (currently Alma).
  • Help manage the storage and maintenance of the library's physical collections including materials processing, arrangement, inventorying, and maintenance of physical collections.
  • Maintain and analyze acquisitions data for annual reporting needs and collections-based decision making, and identify ways to improve the acquisition of library materials.
  • Actively collaborate in library project groups, participate in library research groups, serve on library steering groups, and contribute to ad hoc projects and initiatives as opportunities arise.

Qualifications that will help you flourish in this role:

  • You are a collaborative team player with strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • You have relevant library experience in acquisitions, cataloging, collections maintenance, or resource sharing, and/or experience using back end functions of library services platforms (Alma / Rialto highly desirable), or related library systems.
  • Prior experience with copy cataloging and/or metadata description is highly desirable.
  • You demonstrate a commitment to an inclusive environment that values and celebrates difference.
  • You possess strong organizational and project management skills.
  • You are resilient, adaptable, and demonstrate a capacity to operate flexibly in a rapidly evolving landscape.

For this job, we require that:

  • You have a Bachelor's degree, with at least one year of related work experience.
