The Video Surveillance Monitor Technician (VSMT) provides continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients. The VSMT must be able to verbally redirect the patient from engaging in at risk behaviors, and summons the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance. The VSMT must be knowledgeable and supportive of patient an institutional confidentiality and related hospital policies. The VSMT must be able to flex into an NT role if necessary. |

Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills. Maintains accurate records/and completes required documentation using approved systems. Provides accurate hand off report at change of shift and PRN. Reports pertinent information about assigned patients. Seeks help or advice as soon as possible when patient appears to pose a threat to themselves or others. -------------------------------------------------- Demonstrates Personal accountability. Responds appropriately to emergency situations and demonstrates knowledge of how to respond. Always uses appropriate safety devices and techniques (examples: correctly lifting copy paper). Protects all confidential information and obeys all HIPAA regulations. Adheres to all organizational and departmental policies and procedures, including dress code and attendance. Documents time accurately using Kronos. Completes all departmentally required education, competencies, and/or proficiencies. -------------------------------------------------- Performs clerical and Video Surveillance Monitoring Activities. Enters patient information into the system, and monitors patient activity. Demonstrates understanding and proficiency of the use of the AvaSys Telesitter Solution software.Maintains visual observation at all times. Verbally redirects patients over digital 2-way audio device that is in patient room. Assist with immediately informing departmental staff to remove any potential safety hazards from room as seen during visual observation.Escalates calls based on nursing response or patient change in condition.
