DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inspects, maintains, troubleshoots, modifies, packs and adjusts aircrew life sustaining equipment not limited to but including: flight helmets, oxygen masks, parachutes, flotation devices, survival kits, aircrew night-vision goggles, anti-G garments, harnesses, explosive components, ejection seats, canopies, hatches and oxygen systems.
  • Repairs, troubleshoots, adjusts installed aircraft egress systems to conform to specifications, and modifies the same in accordance with technical orders and modification instructions. Isolates malfunctions on the numerous life support systems using various types of test equipment. Repairs or replaces components as required using the latest technical data. Performs operational and functional checks and adjusts the affected systems as required. Installs and removes aircrew life support aircraft equipment.
  • Uses various types of test equipment such as oxygen testers, leakage testers, radio testers, and other types of testers to conduct reliability testing on aircrew life support/egress system equipment. Maintain inspection and accountability documentation on egress/ life support equipment issued to aircrews and installed on aircraft. Performs periodic maintenance and inspection on installed egress systems and other life support equipment as required. Is familiar with theory of operation of egress systems assigned, and inspection requirements for the same. Is capable of making determinations as to the serviceability of egress systems, and calculations of component life per Technical Data and other written standards.
  • Must have general knowledge and understanding of oxygen systems and varied equipment installed in multiple aircraft types, including liquid oxygen converters, hi- pressure gaseous bottles, low pressure walk around bottles, oxygen regulators and personnel servicing units.
  • Maintains all flotation equipment, life rafts, emergency evacuation slides, life preservers, and flotation collars.
  • Sews and fabricates to engineering drawing and military specifications. Performs custom design and fabrication of aircraft protective covers, upholstery and any special purpose items that require textile fabrication. Inspects, repairs and modifies aircrew flight clothing. Performs minor maintenance on industrial sewing machines and related equipment
  • Must be capable of performing strenuous physical labor including, walking, standing, heavy lifting, pulling, working in restrictive spaces, climbing up and down ladders and also have good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Conducts aircrew life support continuation training on equipment use, operation and capabilities. Conduct aircrew ejection seat training, hanging harness and bail-out descent procedures. Trains maintenance personnel on safety procedures and recognition of dangers inherent in potentially lethal ejection systems.
  • Must be able to work in the established work/living environment to include shifts as assigned, travel as part of maintenance recovery team and support CONUS and OCONUS deployments as required.
  • Must be customer oriented.
  • Must have in-depth working knowledge of aircraft safety directives.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have completion documentation of formal Aircrew / Life Support / Egress Equipment training: (i.e. military aircrew life support specialist course or manufacturer's training completion certificate.) - Required
  • Must have documented minimum of three (3) years' ALSS/EGRESS experience
  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years' experience on Full Pressure suits and all associated equipment.
  • Familiarity with USAF F-15 and/or USN F/A-18 egress systems - preferred.
  • Experience with Martin Baker ACES II and/or NACES II ejection seats and life support systems and escape systems - preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a government flight line driver's license.
  • Must be able to work in the established work/living environment to include shifts, as assigned.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain valid U.S. Passport - required
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain U.S. Secret Security Clearance - required. A valid active Clearance is preferred

Work Environment - The diversity of working conditions range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject the individual to severe changes in temperature, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards, exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and electrical shock hazards exist.

Hourly $47.06 USD
