Position Summary
The UNC School of Government is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Business Officer for Public Service Matters (PSM), a flagship program at UNC-Chapel Hill School of Government. This pivotal position will provide crucial business and administrative management to the PSM team, primarily focusing on the Lead for North Carolina, an AmeriCorps-funded initiative. The Business Officer will play a key role in financial and budget management, grant administration, project management, and other duties essential to the success of PSM initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
-Oversee budget management, reconciliation, and forecasting, ensuring fiscal responsibility and sustainability for PSM initiatives.
-Manage day-to-day operations.
-Manage the grant administration processes, including proposal development, budget creation, compliance monitoring, and reporting, to ensure alignment with grant requirements and objectives.
-Provide comprehensive operational support at a high level for the critical matching process between fellows and host sites across the state and assist in managing the fellows during their fellowship program. This includes ensuring the smooth and efficient alignment of fellows with suitable host sites, thereby contributing to the success of the program.
-Serve as a primary first point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, providing timely and accurate information and fostering collaborative relationships.

This position is contingent upon the continuing availability of funds from sources other than continuing state budget funds or permanent trust funds.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, or related business area; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
-Experience or familiarity with grant administration processes.
-Strong organizational and multitasking skills with keen attention to detail.
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
-Proficient in the use and application of Excel for financial tracking and budget management.
-Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
-Ability to interact with diverse stakeholders from student participants to elected and government officials.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
-Previous experience in project or program management, or a related role.
-Knowledge of North Carolina local government operations is a plus.
-Experience in public administration.
Special Physical/Mental Requirements
Campus Security Authority Responsibilities

This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
