Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

Position Summary
The Undergraduate Business Program is the largest academic program within UNC's Kenan-Flagler Business School with an enrollment of approximately 1,000 majors and minors. The Undergraduate Business Program Office (UBP) provides academic and student development services for current and prospective students, faculty and staff. Specific services include: prospective student recruitment and admissions; academic services, including academic advising, course scheduling, and graduation; new student orientation; student life and engagement programs, such as student clubs and organizations, case competitions and other community-building opportunities; study abroad and other global program experiences; and career development programs.

The Associate Director of Global Programs for the Undergraduate Business Program is a key leadership position requiring effective and diplomatic communication skills, strategic thinking and analytical skills in order to develop strategic recommendations for senior leadership. The Associate Director will: manage key working relationships with global partners and constituents across the business school, campus and in the local community in delivering international programs and services.

This role is responsible for: improving and enhancing global education for UBP students, leading and scaling all aspects of our faculty led Global Immersion Elective and International Internship Programs, forming new partnerships to execute UBP global objectives, and advising students on our Global Programs portfolio. Currently, more than 70% of our business majors study abroad. Our goal is to ensure 100% of UBP students have an opportunity to engage in a global experience and the Associate Director will be a key contributor in helping to achieve this objective.

The Associate Director reports to the Director for Global Programs and has substantial contact with Undergraduate Business students. The Associate Director supervises one Assistant Director and the Global Programs Manager.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent educational or instructional activities associated with the delivery and/or management of student support functions, will accept a relevant Bachelor's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and at least 1 year of relevant experience in substitution.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
A successful candidate for this role is a strong and clear communicator, motivated and organized, detail oriented; functions well as part of a team, and can successfully juggle multiple priorities simultaneously. This individual must be able to move quickly and adeptly between projects and perform under pressure in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment. As this individual will work with stakeholders across campus as well as globally, having a diplomatic style is essential to ensure that key messages are conveyed, as intended, in a culturally appropriate way. Some evening and weekend work may be required. The successful candidate must also be willing to travel internationally.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience working with undergraduate students in global programs preferred. Master's degree preferred. Ideal candidates should be comfortable using technology (specifically the Slate application management tool) and analyzing and summarizing data.

Campus Security Authority Responsibilities

This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
