Salary | $90,000 - $100,00 per year

Monday - Friday | 8 AM - 5 PM

Qualifications

  • A master's degree in agronomy or plant breeding.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience working in a plant breeding role, specifically with vegetables.
  • Knowledge of plant growth and the genetics of vegetables.
  • Previous experience working on farms including planting, fertilizing, and harvesting of plants.
  • Outstanding organizational and planning skills with strong abilities to analyze data and statistics.

Plant Breeder job duties include overseeing the seed breeding program, managing activities, field tests, and scale-up of plants for commercial use. Daily tasks include developing new variants of plants, screening, selecting, and cultivating a field for trial management, designing trials, analyzing data, collaborating with the global agronomy team, farmers and food scientists, maintaining knowledge of the workings of Animal Health Plant Inspection Service (APHIS), traveling to fields to monitor production stages, and managing the internal seed/plant catalog.
