Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design, seeks a well-rounded, highly motivated Senior Project Structural Engineer to join our Waterway Structures Group within our Water Discipline in Charlotte, NC. Our Waterway Structures Group is growing and we have exciting projects to engage technically-minded engineers who like to design large complex projects on or near the water. Our projects are unique and provide a diverse array of interesting work to keep our staff challenged and engaged. Our portfolio of upcoming projects includes jobs on some of the largest infrastructure projects in the country.

Responsibilities

  • Structural design of complex waterway structures (e.g., locks, dams, hydraulic steel structures, pump stations, hydraulic gates, and waterfronts).
  • Prepare construction design documents (plans & specifications) for waterway structures.
  • Perform quality reviews of drawings and work products from designers and engineers.
  • May serve as technical contact for client, other design professionals, and contractors.
  • May serve on professional association committees for establishment of policies, standards, procedures, and research at a local, state, or national level.
  • May deliver technical papers and presentations.
  • May stamp/sign drawings or reports or serve as Engineer of Record for the project.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Structural preferred.
  • PE license or ability to become licensed within 12 months.
  • 6-15+years' experience on complex structural projects.
  • Experience with various structural engineering software analysis packages.
  • Prior experience with the US Army Corps of Engineers design procedures is a plus.
  • Experience with Dam Safety Guidelines is a plus.
  • Ability to work closely with others or independently as needed.
  • Occasional overnight travel for site visits or meetings as needed.
