PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Production Operations Supervisor is responsible for producing high quality Dyneema products in the most cost effective manner and according to the production plan, while maintaining excellent safety, human relations, and environmental standards.

JOB CONTEXT:

The Production Operations Supervisor will operate with LP or Fiber production. Direct the daily activities within their production area as well as interface with our support staff to ensure production and quality goals are achieved. Maintaining LTO, such as SHE, is a
significant part of this position.

JOB CONTENT:

Key Areas of Accountability / Responsibility

1. All employees have the responsibility to:

a) Show behavior in line with the SHE and Security risks and agreed controls, including being compliant to Avient Protective Materials requirements, rules and procedures

b) Address any person behaving in a SHE and Security irresponsible way

c) Report any SHE and Security incidents (including observed risks) to management

3. Manufacturing Excellence - Avient Protective Materials wants to be 'best in class' in every respect, including manufacturing. To excel in manufacturing, we need to optimize how we do things. Everyone within the organization has at least one role within Manufacturing Excellence. Roles and responsibilities are defined and assigned to those involved in the different Manufacturing Excellence Work Processes.

4. Ensure all work is conducted in a safe and effective manner and all applicable procedures and policies are followed. Maintain or enhance safety awareness programs and related documentation. Support and lead the Avient Protective Materials Safety Committee. Take action to correct unsafe acts, systems and procedures.

5. Abides by Avient Protective Materials procedures/policies regarding security, inclusive of: employee security agreements; use of non-disclosure agreements with outside parties; control of Avient Protective Materials intellectual property limited to a "need to know" only basis; no unauthorized use of cell phones, cameras, computers or Avient Protective Materials property; reporting security threats and incidents; proper control of Avient Protective Materials property and keys.

6. Provide leadership and development to the LP/Fiber production organization. Manage performance of Lead Production Technicians and Production Technicians.

7. Facilitate teamwork within the LP/Fiber production group. Provide necessary resources for the team to fulfill objectives. Encourage team members to understand corporate and departmental goals/objectives and needs. Provide supervisory communication and/or direction to the production employees. Disseminate needed divisional, unit and corporate information to employees on a timely basis. Establish and maintain an open line of communication with all employees.

8. Assist the Operations Manager in establishing operational goals to support divisional, unit, and corporate objectives. Incorporate short-term goals in immediate subordinates' annual performance plans. Initiate and implement plans to reduce COGS by continuously improving efficiencies, processing times, reducing labor and material costs, reducing maintenance costs and controlling expense budgets.

9. Maintain adequate manufacturing and support facilities to produce the highest quality product in a cost-effective manner. Work with Engineering to assess manufacturing capacity and the need to upgrade facilities to meet regulatory requirements and process improvements.

10. Review and approve LP/Fiber work instructions, recipes, and procedures.

11. Maintain compliance with environmental programs. Promote waste reduction and recovery projects and incorporate associated operations in applicable manufacturing processes. Ensure staff is trained on current waste disposal procedures and prevention procedures. Identify opportunities to minimize waste and to recycle.

12. Ensure proper storage and disposal of liquid and solid hazardous wastes in production area.

13. It is the responsibility of each employee to work in a safe and responsible manner in order to create an injury-free and incident-free workplace.

14. Comply with all job-related safety and other training requirements.

15. Maintain annual training requirements on hazardous waste by reviewing DYNPRO SHE DYN 653 and general awareness presentation. Specific job holders will complete more detailed training as well.

16. Perform other duties as assigned.

Authorities

Authorized to approve work permits per details included in DYNPRO SHE DYN 026. If so authorized, employee must maintain necessary refresher training to participate in these activities.

This position involves work with (supervision of) and/or handling hazardous materials and waste at the Avient Protective Materials (Greenville, NC) work site. Worker has the appropriate qualifications to read, understand, apply and communicate written and verbal information regarding handling and managing hazardous wastes. Training is required within six months of worker assuming duty, and once a year thereafter. Worker is responsible for proper handling, documentation, inspection and transporting around the facility of hazardous wastes. Worker may also be responsible for responding to emergencies involving hazardous waste.

KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:

BS/BA in related technical field with 4 years of relevant experience; OR Associate's degree in related technical field with 5 years of relevant experience OR 6 years of production related experience. One year of supervisory or lead experience preferred.

REQUIRED LEVEL OF EXPERIENCES:

* Ability to effectively manage team performance and to identify developmental opportunities for team members.

* Firm understanding of production planning and scheduling activities.

* Knowledge of environmental regulations related UD/Fiber and UD/Fiber Production activities.

* Ability to drive improvements in production lead times and to minimize rejected material.
