Assemble components using assembly machinery or jigs and fixtures

Positions parts according to knowledge of unit being assembled or following blueprints
Fastens parts together with bolts, screws, speed clips, rivets, or other fasteners

Removes small quantities of metal/ plastic with hand files and scrapers to produce close fit between parts

Product will be tested in accordance with test procedure

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Perform production according to process standard work
  • Follow prescribed A.T.I.'s (Assemble test instructions) in order to maintain excellent quality standards
  • Completion of recaps, production records, and quality control documents.
  • Routine Housekeeping - 5-S activities
  • Continuous repetitive assembling of parts and/or sub parts
  • Maintain a safe work environment and assist in development of Safety SOPs, Job Hazard Analysis, and Ergonomic Improvements
  • Assembly a product according to dimensional, functional, and cosmetic specifications.
  • Assembly number of products according to customer demand and process capacities.
  • Participate in Daily Management reviews. The Operator will perform according to daily safety, quality, and production goals, fill proper daily management charts, and report results according to daily management standards
  • Daily report production problems to his or her supervisor and participate in root cause solutions of these problems
  • Train and coach new people according to Standard Operational Procedures
  • Participate in kaizen/process improvements
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by his/her Supervisor

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalent

MANAGEMENT:

This position has no direct reports

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1-3 months previous assembly experience required
  • Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers
  • Ability to print and speak simple sentences
    Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 1O's and 1OO's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
