Position Summary

We're looking for a full-time, staff Director of Workforce Development to join our team. The Director of Workforce Development plans, organizes, coordinates, develops, and oversees the activities of the workforce development department. This including best practices to support identification and training of a skilled workforce to meet needs of today and the future, across the five markets we support. This position serves as the direct liaison to the business and industry community to include non-profit and government agencies, working groups, and steering committees and will be vital in creating workforce development methodologies and processes.

As the Director of Workforce Development, here's the work you'll do:
  • Drives development of work-based learning opportunities including internships and apprenticeship.
  • Guides and supports sourcing activities in collaboration with the recruiting team.
  • Establishes and maintains partnerships with secondary and post secondary academic institutions, non-profit and government agencies.
  • Conceives, develops, and implements workforce related innovations for identifying and growing talent pools.
  • Research funding and partnership opportunities, keeping a repository of options available for the enterprise.
  • Serve as Chair of the Workforce Development Council, organizing Council development and strategic planning efforts.
  • Provides frequent updates to the Learning & Organizational Development leadership and D&Z executive teams.
  • Partners with internal departments, external institutions, and agencies to address complex issues or policies impacting assigned programs, services, or operations specific to workforce development.
  • Identify key performance indicators, reporting out on key metrics that demonstrate growth and return on investment around strategic imperative and associated programmatic goals.


This role is for you if you have these skills:

  • Deep understanding of skilled workforce needs from the perspective of an educator, employer and/or human resource professional.
  • Ability to derive, analyze, and communicate labor market information effectively to develop, define, and advance strategic goals and directions for workforce development, training and/or student success, as well as to evaluate programs.
  • Ability to understand, analyze and communicate complex data effectively to define and advance strategic and tactical goals and evaluate progress and program effectiveness.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to a wide range of constituents, such as internal partners and stakeholder, students, faculty, administrators, regents, legislators, employers, industry partners, community-based organizations, and philanthropic partners.
  • Deep understanding of skilled trade development needs and associated programs such as NCCER and state funded initiatives, internships, workforce partnerships, and trade school offerings. Market knowledge should include power, industrial, renewables, government, etc.
And if you have these qualifications:
  • Bachelor's in related field
  • Five years of experience in planning, policy, program development and/or implementation for workforce development or related field.
  • Minimum of three years working in or directly with post secondary institutions in the realm of workforce development or adult education.
  • Working knowledge of grant writing and funding research.
  • Must be willing to travel 25%-35%, including overnight stays
  • Great attitude and team player.
  • Successful completion of drug and background screening process.


In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $122,800.00 - $184,200.00. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
