Covia is looking for a dynamic Financial Analyst who will have a positive impact on the Performance Materials US & CA - Operations Finance team at its Huntersville, NC location. The Financial Analyst will report directly to the Director, of Financial Planning & Analysis - Operations and support the team for the Performance Materials business unit, VP, Financial Planning & Analysis and the CFO and the Covia business. This position will be responsible for performance measurement and monitoring of Covia's businesses including business analysis, forecasting, annual budgeting, building and maintaining financial models, and assisting with the enhancement and maintenance the of the financial planning and reporting systems and processes.

The successful incumbent will have the following Key Accountabilities:

  • Partner with the lead Performance Materials Senior Analyst and the Performance Materials US & CA leadership team
  • Prepare and summarize key operational financial summaries including, plant cost analytics, consumption/PPV analysis, ROI analysis, and logistics analysis
  • Assist with preparation of financial performance presentations, provide key financial data points and summaries in support of BoD updates, earnings calls, internal business reviews, etc.
  • Perform financial analysis and complete analytical reviews of the financial statements and business drivers on a monthly, quarterly, and year-to-date basis versus budget, forecast, prior year, etc.
  • Assist with long-term planning, capital planning, and tracking benefits / costs related to strategic initiatives
  • Assist with product costing and product profitability to drive strategic business decisions
  • Identify trends and data anomalies for review with senior management team
  • Support the Financial Planning and Analysis function and assist with the organization of cross-functional efforts to deliver the financial estimates, forecasts, and annual budgets
  • Work with procurement, accounting, IT and other functions to query, gather, aggregate, and organize data and transform the data into meaningful information, tabular and graphical reporting, and analysis
  • Embrace a continuous improvement mindset to drive efficient and effective processes throughout the business
  • Continuous development through reading, seminars, and on-the-job training.
  • Perform other ad-hoc duties as assigned or directed.

The successful incumbent will have the following Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting and finance or another related field required
  • MBA or CPA preferred
  • Minimum of 1+ years of progressive experience within Accounting or Finance required
  • Demonstrated ability to perform complex financial analysis and financial modeling
  • Experience with enterprise planning software, a financial consolidation system, reporting development, and financial reporting
  • Strong working knowledge and hands-on experience with IFS, SAP, JDE, Oracle, QAD, Infor, AS/400 or a similar ERP system (IFS experience preferred)
  • Strong working knowledge and hands-on experience with Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse applications
  • Experience with Microsoft applications (Word, Power Point, SharePoint, Project, etc.)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate results and present to upper management in a way that is easy to use and understand
  • Proven track record of working with large groups or teams to track business performance and implement changes resulting from financial analysis
  • Ability to multi-task and manage heavy volume of requests with tight time frame parameters
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
