Primary Function:

This position will manage the monthly financial close process for their respective division, including preparation and review of journal entries, monthly and annual audits, reconciliations, and analytical reporting. The Senior Accounting Manager must ensure that accounting transactions comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This position will support and provide documentation for internal/external audit inquiries; assist in making process improvements/accounting changes; and provide on-going support for various business groups. Individual should enjoy working outside the box and challenging the organization with new ideas and a fresh perspective. This role will also be responsible for assisting the controller with various project assignments.

Specific duties will include:

  • Participate in the accurate and timely closing of the monthly and annual financial reporting process
  • Complete monthly and annual assigned financial close tasks, including preparation, review and posting of journal entries and submission of financial information. Review monthly results, investigate account discrepancies, as well as tracking, reporting, and forecasting responsibilities
  • Maintain and reconcile all balance sheet accounts.
  • Accountable for maintaining and reconciling Balance Sheet accounts in compliance with policies and regulations
  • Research and resolve any reconciling items on a monthly basis
  • Assist, support, and provide documentation for internal/external audit processes
  • Participate in the execution and improvement of accounting processes
  • Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls, procedures, and remediation plans
  • Ensure all processes are appropriately documented and assist in the on-going documentation of accounting policies and procedures
  • Identify productivity improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
  • Act as a resource in the training of other team members; provide back-up support as needed
  • Provides customer services such as investigating variances, providing detail of departmental charges and advisement of financial procedures.
  • Assist with any and all accounting system transitions
  • Maintaining financial systems with high integrity, ethical conduct and compliance with Company policies.
  • Additional tasks may be assigned

Training/ Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required with in-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Minimum of five years of professional accounting experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the Company.
  • A proven track record in leading/managing projects, meeting deadlines, and working collaboratively as part of a team
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred
  • Internal controls experience required
  • Proficiency with accounting software; Great Plains experience is preferred
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office application with advanced Microsoft Excel skills (no exceptions)
  • Demonstrated experience with process improvement is required
