The West Virginia Laser Eye Center LLC (WVLEC) was formed by Dr. Richard C. Rashid and Dr. Gregory S. Moore in mid 2001. After working for a large international LASIK company, it made sense to continue as a refractive laser center. Frankly, nothing has changed except the name. At the West Virginia Laser Eye Center, more than 2000 procedures were performed in the first half of 2001 achieving excellent results. Patients come from all over the world to have the LASIK performed at WVLEC. There are two on-site lasers, the Nidek EC5000 excimer and the Hyperion laser for farsightedness. WVLEC is able to offer better quality care and reduced prices due to the economies of scale. We only do refractive surgery, and the more volume of surgeries, the less the cost per procedure.
