Primary Purpose of Position | The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative support to the HR Information Systems unit in the Office of Human Resources. The Human Resources Specialist will help to administer the payroll processing of all employees, including student workers, in the Banner Payroll system in accordance with University, Office of State Human Resources (OSHR) and University of North Carolina - General Administration (UNC-GA) polices. This position will research and resolve customer service issues and route appropriate issues to OHR units: Benefits, Leave Administration, HR Employment, Classification & Compensation, Employee Relations, and Payroll. Essential functions for this position requires working with the ERP Banner, PeopleAdmin and UNC HR DataMart. Knowledge is preferred, but not required. The selected candidate must possess the ability to work independently or amongst a team and demonstrate integrity, accuracy, and consistency to deliver and maintain efficient and effective operations. |
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities | The successful candidate must possess a working knowledge of HR/Payroll Banner, People Admin, DATA MART and BDMS or equivalent systems; knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel) Applications; knowledge of verifying and reconciling monthly and bi-weekly payroll transactions; knowledge of office management; ability to work independently with little or no supervision; to take initiative to see projects and assignments through to completion; to learn, interpret and analyze information to make necessary decisions; to exercise judgment and discretion in problem solving; to plan, prioritize and organize workflow; ability to work flexible schedules; excellent analytical and organizational skills along with written and oral communication skills, excellent editing skills; great interpersonal skills to interact effectively and diplomatically with a wide range of individuals in a high pressure environment. |
Minimum Education/Experience | Bachelor's degree; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
