Position Overview

Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Julius L. Chambers Biomedical/Biotechnology Research Institute (BBRI) is a 40,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art research facility that is dedicated to expanding the University’s research capacity, particularly in the biomedical and biotechnology areas. The BBRI is a broad based multi-disciplinary research and training institute. The mission of the BBRI is to conduct multidisciplinary and inter-institutional research focused on health issues that disproportionately affect minority and underserved groups while providing students with research experiences that will enhance their access t o careers in the biomedical sciences.
Primary Purpose of Position
This is a new EHRA temp position. The RCHDR requires a Research Assistant who will work closely with the CEC leadership team and investigators.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The Research Assistant is a full-time position that will be responsible for coordinating a major research grant from the national Institutes of Health focused on health disparities.
The Research Assistant will play an essential role in supporting this transformative work to further understand the social, behavioral, environmental, and biological causes of health disparities by implementing research activities as described in funded grant applications; collaborating with NCCU faculty, staff, and students on program design and assessment; working with community partners in Durham and rural North Carolina Counties; recruiting and scheduling study participants; conducting research sessions; coordinating working with the project budget; and working closely with the RCC leadership team and investigators. This is a time-limited position.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

Function Administrative
Describe the specific tasks and responsibilities related to the function.
Work on partnerships with neighboring organizations and other NIH funded Centers to build collaborative research in population and health sciences. RCHDR works closely with several community clinics and has procured two mobile units.
Function Instructional
Describe the specific tasks and responsibilities related to the function.
They will also provide support to NCCU investigators in population health and health services projects.
Function Research
Describe the specific tasks and responsibilities related to the function.
They will administratively and scientifically grow the program through these partnerships and resources to expand our reach into population and health services research.
