Position Purpose 
McAdams is adding to our growing greenway practice and is searching for the right planner to join our team. If you are active in the field of bicycle + pedestrian planning and design and want to make a difference in creating sustainable, livable communities - McAdams is the right team for you.



Essential Functions + Responsibilities
  • Responsible for preparation and completion of planning tasks that are responsive to project needs including the production planning documents, surveys, reports and the facilitation of public meetings and steering committee meetings
  • Collect, analyze and present data and public input
  • Conduct field observations and data collection activities
  • Development project strategy for each project that identifies milestones, appropriate planning techniques to be applied, stakeholders, schedule and overall project objectives
  • Analyze technical problems, assessing the feasibility of proposed techniques and procedures, and devising new approaches and alternative solutions
  • Manage projects by coordinating with the client, directing the design process, coordinating the design team, which may include other disciplines
  • Coordinate with clients to define work programs and budgets
  • Execute planning work with limited direction
  • Complete work accurately and in accordance with good planning codes and practice
  • Provide leadership in project planning and strategy including general oversight and planning, project management, project implementation, and ensuring quality of work products

Qualifications
  • Master / Bachelor's degree in Planning or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in bicycle and pedestrian planning
  • Proficiency in the application of bicycle and pedestrian planning techniques at a variety of scales
  • Proficiency in GIS software
  • Strong written and oral communications skills are required
  • Possess strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multi-task, communicate schedule and progress on assigned tasks
  • Be energetic, self-directed and success focused


Preferences
  • American Institute of Certified Planning (AICP) credentials preferred


Portfolio Requirements
  • Please provide three (3) examples of bicycle and pedestrian plans. Specify your contribution to each document.
